Welcome to Mr Burton’s Blog

Friday 5th June

Dear Oak Class,

It was lovely to see some of you back at school this week. The learning project theme next week is ‘The Rainforest’. The project aims to provide opportunities for you to learn more about the world’s rainforests. Learning may focus on the plants, animals and insects that inhabit the rainforest, food that originates there and weather patterns. You could look at plants and animals that can be found in the garden too.

Take care and keep safe, Mr Burton 🌈

Friday 29th May

I hope you had a lovely half term. Daily Maths and English tasks continue to be on Seesaw each day. The learning project theme next week (W/C 1st June) is ‘Sport’. You will be investigating the history of sport, sporting-heroes, physical challenges and performance. Please also remember that you have logins to fantastic resources like Mathletics, Fiction Express and Times Tables Rockstars.

Take care and keep safe. Mr Burton.

Thursday 14th May

Thursday 7th May

Hello Oak Class! It has been fantastic to see so many of you using Seesaw and sending me your brilliant work to have a look at. Remember to keep using Fiction Express for reading and Mathletics for any extra Maths practice. Please also remember that the most important thing is to be happy and positive in these worrying times so make sure that you spend plenty of time doing all of the things that you really love to do and make you feel good. The theme for Week 7 is ‘Celebrations’ so you will have fun finding out about different ways people all over the world celebrate events. I know that quite a few of you are taking part in the Joe/Rosie Wicks PE lessons which is a great way to make sure you are doing your daily exercise.

Take care, Mr Burton.

Friday 1st May

Week 6 activities are now on the ‘Weekly Home Learning Activities page’ (See orange button). Daily Maths and English tasks will continue to be on Seesaw each day. I am also going to be putting weekly spellings on Seesaw from Monday. The learning project theme this week is ‘food’ so you can enjoy finding out about the main food groups and making a chocolate bar wrapper design.

Take care and keep safe. Mr Burton

Thursday 23rd April

Hello Oak Class! From next week (w/c 27th April), the daily Maths and English tasks will now be on Seesaw each day. It has been fantastic to see so many of you uploading work and sharing what you have been doing at home. It has also been great to see you logging into Fiction Express to read your chosen book. Other tasks are on the ‘Weekly Home Learning Activities page’ (See orange button).

Take care and keep safe. Mr Burton.

Tuesday 21st April

Just to let everybody know that Seesaw is now up and running. From next week, a Maths and an English task will be uploaded to Seesaw daily for you to have a go at. Please continue to read, spell, practice times tables and exercise when you can during the week too.

Thursday 16th April

Hello everyone! Just to let you all know that activities for Week 4 are now ready for you. The topic focus is on animals and you will be researching your favourite animals, creating fact files and other activities.

Thursday 9th April

Hi again Oak Class,

Everything is well in the Burton household and Milly (my cat) has now got very used to deliberately sitting in front of my laptop and has even started to learn how to type by sitting on the keyboard to get my attention! Not helpful.

Has anybody else got a pet who is doing things like this? Maybe you could let me know on Seesaw and upload a picture. If you don’t have a pet, you could invent one and tell me something strange that they are doing!

Don’t forget you have all been sent your Fiction Express logins this week and there are loads of fantastic books on there to choose from. You could let me know which one you have chosen and leave me a little note on Seesaw.

See you all soon and keep in touch by using Seesaw.

Friday 3rd April

Hi Oak Class,

It has been lovely to see your work on Seesaw and for me to be able to respond to your work too. The home learning packs for next week (week 2) are now available. Click the orange button to download the activities >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Sunday 29th March

Hello Oak Class,

I miss you all and hope that you are having a great time and are home learning when you can. Have a go at some of the exciting home learning activities that you have been given this week.

My family and I are all well. I’m looking after my 3 children (Matthew, Erin and Larna) most days as my wife is very busy working at Oswestry Hospital. My cat Milly is very pleased that I am working from home because she is having lots more attention. She is sat right next to me as I type this wishing for me to stroke her again!

I’ll update this blog again soon. Take care everyone.

Mr Burton
